Dutch national Michiel Mouris stormed to victory in the Junior Men’s Individual Time Trial at the 2025 UCI Road World Championships, clocking a time of 29:07.61 and securing his gold medal on Tuesday, September 23.

“It’s incredible that we both won here, and it’s amazing to deliver my best performance and win the world title. Pacing was difficult, and it was hard not to blow up, but I managed to recover enough in the descent to keep my legs going for the final climb.”

In a closely contested race, Ashlin Barry (USA) finished in second place, posting a time of 29:14.45, just 6.84 seconds behind Mouris. The U.S. National Junior Time Trial Champion, who has had an excellent season with podium finishes at events like the Tour du Bocage and Internationale Cottbuser Junioren-Etappenfahrt, showcased his speed and consistency, averaging 46.374 km/h.
Seff Van Kerckhove secures bronze for Belgium

Belgium’s Seff van Kerckhove claimed the bronze medal, crossing the line in 29:16.19, 8.58 seconds off Barry’s time. The Belgian Junior Time Trial Champion’s strong performance further solidified his position among the world’s best, adding to his list of triumphs at the LVM Saarland Trofeo and Giro della Lunigiana.
U.S. contender Beckam Drake misses the podium

Beckam Drake (USA), a strong contender from the Junior U.S. National Championships, finished fourth with a time of 29:21.16. With notable performances in the Tour de l’Abitibi and Junior Tour of Ireland, Drake’s result highlighted his potential to rise in the ranks of junior cycling.

Max Hinds (Great Britain), the gold medalist in the Boys’ Time Trial at the European Youth Olympic Festival, claimed fifth place with a time of 29:26.52. Hinds, who had strong showings in the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Juniors and Trophée Centre Morbihan, demonstrated his world-class abilities in this highly competitive field.

Dylan Sage, touted as the pre-race favourite, finished 18th with a time of 30:28.51. Despite being the reigning British Junior Time Trial National Champion, and a strong contender with consistent top results throughout 2025, Sage struggled to deliver on the day.
His notable achievements include a third-place finish at the LVM Saarland Trofeo and a stage win at the 2024 Junior Tour of Wales.
